April, 22 - International Mother Earth Day
Today, April, 22, with the protection of the UNO is celebrated as a great holiday- it is International Mother Earth Day. This holiday was founded in the 63rd session of the UNO Head Assembly on April, 22, 2009 and since 2010 began to be celebrated every April, 22. The chairman of the 63rd session of the Head Assembly Migel d’Eskato Brokman stated that celebration of this international day is reflection of the fact that the Earth and its ecosystem are our home and source of life. The resolution also says that the term “Mother-Earth” has already been accepted in many countries and it reflects the connection among the men, Earth and its ecosystems. The Head Assembly recommends to all member-countries of the UNO, as well as to international and non-governmental organizations to celebrate “International Mother Earth Day” and stresses out that this day is already being celebrated in a number of countries. In the North Pole the Earth Day is celebrated in spring, however in the South Pole it is celebrated in autumn. The main aim of this universal action is to attract attention of societies and every person to the problems of the Earth and environment.
What is our Earth? According to calculations, the Earth is 4.5 milliard years old. Today everybody can participate in planting and planning of his own street and yard. Celebration of the Moth Earth Day on April, 22 gives us an opportunity to express our gratitude to our common home. Every year the scientists of the world countries assembly on this day to discuss global ecological problems. Different activities are held in different countries. It includes conferences, exhibitions, cleaning of areas, planting trees and interruption of the movement of cars in the busiest streets. Let’s do our best to protect our World, Earth and home!
